This recipe is for hot milk cake that Mary Catherine Palewicz (née Rebstock) used to make. It's a Maryland State Fair Prize winner of 2003, second place.
Heat milk and butter together until just warm. Cream eggs and sugar together. Add flour, alternately with milk/butter mixture. Add baking powder and vanilla last. Throughout process, be sure milk isn't too hot!
Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until done.
